The Stages Involved in the Rehabilitation Process

Addiction treatment at a facility for rehabilitation will include several stages:

An individualized treatment plan will be created by counselors, therapists, physicians, and other staff members for each patient based on an assessment of his or her unique situation and addiction.

Depending on the substance that the patient has become addicted to, they may require a detoxification process in which the body rids itself of said substance.

This stage contains the majority of the work. Many rehabilitation programs combine 12-step programs, family therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and individual and group therapy to treat each patient and find the best path to recovery.

In this stage, the patient will learn how to use what he or she has learned in the real world and prevent relapse.

“Without attending a rehabilitation program, I have no idea where I would be now. I came into the program as a miserable alcoholic. I had tried to get sober in AA for years, but I kept relapsing. In spite of what AA says, I never thought of my alcoholism as a disease, and I think that is why I never was successful when I tried to get sober. Going to rehab really changed my perspective. It allowed me to see my addiction for what it was. It allowed me to seek the treatment I always knew I needed. And now that I have done that, I have finally found what I need to successfully get and stay sober.”

“Rehabilitation completely changed my life. I owe everything to the rehab program that I attended. The counselors and doctors there really helped me to understand my drug addiction in ways I was never able to before. If you are seeking treatment for your addiction, I highly suggest you reach out and call The Recovery Village. The staff there is all amazing, and they will help you.”

Don’t Lose Faith

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) conducted a National Survey on Drug Use and Health which found that 23.5 million Americans ages 12 or older were in need of treatment for substance abuse issues. 41.4 percent of admissions to rehabilitation facilities involved alcohol abuse where 20 percent involved opiate abuse.
